I have spent a couple of hours sorting and making some statistics over some
of my Classic Windows and Doors.
See below.
I have come to some conclusions that I wish to have confirmed or confuted.
See http://home.swipnet.se/simlego/pix/compare3.jpg for vocabulary reference.
* I guess LEGO cut off the legde length of the 2x2 windows to make it
possible to close shutters.
* I guess they cut off the other's legdes to match the new style.
* All 6-wide windows have thick walls.
* Most 1- and 2-wide items have thin walls, except the oldest.
* All windows without holes (wide enough to have holes) have short ledges
(if they have ledges).
* All windows with holes have long ledges (if they have ledges).
What more...? Do you own any category or combination not mentioned below? Is
there any "LEGO Doors and Windows History" resources available here on
Lugnet or LDraw.org?
Bricklink sellers may be happy if we officilized all combinations, but yet I
hesitate...

| (...) Hi Tore, Gary Istok have made a lot of LEGO history research, among others on windows. Look in newsgroup "Town", at the links in the left is "Gary Istok's History of Lego Series". Arne, Copenhagen (22 years ago, 6-Jan-03, to lugnet.general)
