As a non-US citizen, it has been clear to me that there has been increased
scepticism towards the US since GWB came to power. If nothing else, this
heinous attack has demonstrated the folly of his foreign policy. He has
focussed overly on possible threats in the decades to come rather than
dealing with the one which exist today. The support the USA has received
from around the world in the last 20 hours or so has been considerable – and
a complete contrast to GWB’s isolationism.

This is absolutely no time for armchair speculation, and no time to
criticize the President.

Perhaps you haven't seen the general concensus of a moratorium on debates
concerning the attacks yet (in o-t.debate), but quite frankly I am offended
by such a post at this point in time.  From your comfy chair across the
pond, and even from my comfy chair in Chicago, there's NO WAY for either you
or I to understand the HELL those people went through yesterday, and are
still going through.  So SHOW SOME RESPECT by not debating and throwing your
usual criticism at our American leaders.

Long live America

Agreed, Tim, but you need to calm down and explain your position in a civilized
manner. Too many bad things have occured of late and adding to it via yelling on
Lugnet isn't the way to get things done. Scott can bring up any points he wants,
but that doesn't mean anyone has to answer them.

Tim, Dave, et all,
I do agree with Tim, now is not a time to draw party lines.  But the way to
get things done is to support these poeple in NYC and Washington, and to
show our pride rather than screaming it.  I urge everyone to wear Red, White
and Blue today, for the sake of the nation.
