Sorry, man, it won't work. the crystal ataches to a stud, not a beam.

   Ahhh, but that's where the LEGO part comes in--drop a peg/axle
   or a 4L axle with stud end and voila!  :)

Hey! I was just thinking the same thing right before I read your post. Anyway, I honestly have no interest in racers. They have like what 5 or 6 pieces in each?
