Well I'm going to put in my 2 cents worth, and say emphatically that there are
lots of parts in colors that I have never seen in any set before, especially
things that haven't been around for a long time.
I remember seeing a Lego model of the Brussels Belgium City Hall (Hotel de
Ville), a beautiful 5 foot tall gothic model. I saw it in 1987 at a Kmart in
St. Clair Shores Michigan. It was made of tan and dark gray bricks. That was
the first time I had ever in my life seen tan or dark gray Lego bricks, knowing
full well I had NEVER seen them in any LEGO set prior to that. Perhaps a few of
these pieces might have been in an obscure set or two (that I was unaware of),
but there were over 100 different types of parts in this building, so there was
no way that these were all available in sets from the 1980s or earlier.
