Not owning a monorail, but hey...
Try a new battery (first thing I would do)
Try gently bending up the contacts to the battery, so that they make firm
contact with the battery
After that, my next check would be in the switch, but I think it is sealed. If
you are willing to open it, (and yes, it may not work afterwards, but since it
doesn't work now, what are you loosing?), gently try and open the switch
portion of the battery box. Examine it for contacts that don't quite touch
each other, and gently bend them closer together.
That's how I would approach it if it were mine. Be warned, you may do
something irrepareable, and I don't own a replacement, so don't come asking for
one from me!

| Hi, I've got a monorail 9V battery box and it's not working (unless I'm doing something horribly wrong)... But I don't want to give up on it yet! Any hints as to what I could do to bring it back to life? Thanks in advance, Bryan (24 years ago, 14-Feb-01, to lugnet.general)
