Hi everybody,

Hey Jeroen (You lucky son of a ... :')

[snip]

So what we want to know is:

How many of those clubs exist?
Are they real-life based or virtual (internet) based?
How big are the clubs?

Sorry, I can't really say on those.  But, I guess you could consider
Lugnet and RTL virtual clubs.  Todd ought to have data on the former.
Ad for the latter, it's anyones guess as to membership.

And more important:
What could Lego do to help you?

Oh dear, prepare to get drowned in responses to this.

Bottom line -- stop ignoring (or virtually ignoring) the adult Lego
market.

Would an official Lego certificate give extra value, even if it would
mean that you would loose some of your freedom (Lego has to protect
his/her image)?

If you are asking if we want Lego to endorse our Clubs, in exchange
for us 'doing things their way' then I'd say it depends on the
arrangements.  I suspect you may meet much resitance on this, unless
Lego is really willing to start listening to us, and taking us seriously.

If you are member of a lego-club (and that can be seen in the broadest
sense as possible) and you think you have something to say, please do.

Thank you.  I believe you are the first from TLG to solicit such
information from us.  I certainly appreciate your doing so (even if
you are largely just doing what you were asked to).

I'd like to stress the point that this is still an investigation. It's not
sure yet that this idea about lego clubs will happen.

We (if I may speak for everyone for a moment) truly hope that Lego is
willing to negotiate on this.  Establishing a relationship between
the adult collectors and TLG would be excellent.

Happy building,

You also.

Jeroen Ottens

To prevent some much asked questions some personal information:

Great story.  I'd love to see pics of that plane.
