New LEGO BASIC sets are to be launched as LEGO CLASSIC in the Americas in 1999.
Currently there
are 15 new LEGO BASIC sets available. LEGO SYSTEM Freestyle has been
discontinued. Prices range
from approximately $3.50 to $65 USD. There are 20 percent more bricks in the new
sets than in
the equivalent Freestyle sets.
As LEGO BASIC is an independent product category, the word SYSTEM is deleted.
Supplementary
sets of basic bricks will be included in the LEGO BASIC range. Buckets and boxes
will be the
main form of packaging used for LEGO BASIC.
