The text you gave me is really strangely worded, sonds like they are really
trying to make it clear that this stuff is for boys.  What is stop-gap, and is
it an official catalogue or not?

In lugnet.dear-lego, Benjamin Whytcross writes:
The catalogue was an Australian stop-gap catalogue [hence no official lego
number, just a (C) lego message] to let parents and kids know there were
more new sets on the way before the true second catalogue of the year is
released.

I've put a link to the catalogue, and a transcription of the text from it
below.

Text from 2000.2 catalogue

Front cover :- none

Inside :-

The hidden island

Johnny Thunder and his friends have found Dinosaurs on a hidden island. They
are now trying to study them and protect them from greedy poachers who plan
to bring them to captivity. But T-Rex doesn't know friend from enemy. He
just fights back. Again and again.

Inside left flap :-

[On top left]

Action toys for small action boys

Boys of 4 years are a lovely mix. They are still little boys but also old
enough to demand more action out of life. Here you can see how your son can
play out his action fantasies. Again and again.

[In bottom right yellow area.]

* Big elements easy to change into something else
* The screwdriver makes the construction stronger

Inside right flap :-

MYBOT
An interactive tech-toy that can teach your son a new way of thinking.

Mybot is your son's first step into the new digital world. It's an
interactive imagination builder, where he can build a plane, a car or a
robot - and programme it. he can develop new ways of thinking and expressing
his imagination.

How to programme

Just place one of the three identity bricks and/or one of the three function
bricks on top of the Mybot unit, and your son can control sounds, fuel,
alarm etc. And when he rebuilds his model he can reprogramme it - in 32 ways

Back cover :-

Build it and fight the monster virus on the web

A monster virus is loose on the Web - in six different treacherous forms. To
defeat the virus you need to collect the six different roboriders. They come
ready-to-build in a canister, each one with special powers and a great
firing action. You can collect extra talisman wheels to customize your
roboriders and enlarge their firing potential. The canisters hold secret
codes for the web. Put the canister in the fridge for 5-10 minutes and watch
your webcode appear. it's the only way to join the hunt for the monster
virus.

Remember the sexist teaser catalogue released around 1 month • ago? It made a
few claims about sets being for boys, and not • children...Makes it hard for
them to sell these to girls, when they could probably read • what was written
there [well, at least they'd know the difference between
'boy' and 'girl']

Teaser = fake?
Sorry, I don't understand.  I haven't gotten a catalogue
since late January.
What sets were claimed to be just for boys?
