I think they do it to mimick the real world to a degree. A lot of the glass
made these days is tinted, and much of the time one doesn't really notice.
Newer house windows often use a more reflective type (which ends up being
tinted) to reflect the sun's energy; tons of car glass is tinted, if even just
a little; traincar windows are tinted, etc.
I think they picked light blue because it's the color that works best for all
of the above type of applications. Now whether or not it's the best color in
real life is another discussion. :-)
