Hi Bob,

I actually think there are different sounds for special programs. There are
eight programs and nearly all of them make a sound when activating the
program. Only program #8 will not make any sound when trying to activate it.
It's the "P"-program which does not have any function yet. So he can start
the programs after each other and once there is no sound at all, he can
easily take this as "zero" (instead of #8). When he just selected the
p-program (for him the one without sound), he simply pushes the select
button three more times to find program #3, five times to get #5 etc...
It's a bit difficult to explain, but IMO the only way to use the Micrscout
without its display.

Bye, Christian --- xTI@N.
P.S.: Note that I usually reply slow...

Mine doesn't, it starts up on the same number I left it at the last time
I turned it off :( and pressing the button on each number doesn't seem
to give a distinguishable sound to tell what number the lcd is on.
not that this helps the Blind person, though hope it helps you.
