Anybody know a good way of getting the metal out of a keychain figure?  I

get the pins out?

The easiest solution is to use pliers and twist while holding onto the helmet
with the other hand. I've done this, so I know it works. The pin will slide
straight out and you will have access to Vader's head. Do be careful because I
believe the torso and hips are glued together. I could not get them
apart....well, not without snapping them in half. Oh, well.
