I'm opening the bags on the UCS Tie Fighter, and found the following new
pieces, I think:

a blue 1x4 brick with 4 studs on top as usual, but it also has 4 studs on
one side

Are the studs recessed, like on the 1x1 headlight brick?  Any holes on
the opposite side?

Not recessed, no holes on the other side - just studs sticking out of one side -
Technic style "hollow" studs that go into the interior of the brick (on the
wings, 2 of the holes have shovels shoved into them).

A grey 4x4 hollow technic brick - 4x4 with 2x2 hole in the middle, 3
technic holes on 2 sides, 1 hole on the other 2 sides

Does this mean that the outer pair of holes on the side with three
holes don't go all the way through the 4x4 brick?

All holes go all the way through - it's a 4x4 brick with a 2x2 cutout in the
middle - picture 2 1x4 beams and 2 1x2 beams arranged in a square.  However,
while the outer 2 holes on the 3-hole side go all the way through, you can only
fit a single peg length through them.

I'd take a picture, but the model is already built ;-)
