Last weekend I picked up a mixed lot of stuff that had in it an Idea
Book-like item  that I had never seen before.  It is a Time Travelers
calendar from 1992.  This is a neat little book, 28 pages long  and shows
some really nice models.  It also has some building instructions for four or
five models.  The interesting thing about these instructions is that they
are essentially reprinted instructions of old sets with a picture built
using more modern pieces.

This is the LEgo Builder's Club Birthday Suprise Calender, akin to the Wizard's
World thing I sent to brickshelf a couple months ago.  See it here:
<http://www.brickshelf.com/scans/catalogs/1993/b93usc/index.html>

I have a couple more things to scan along this vein, I'll do 'em when I get a
chance.  :)

For example, the 390 Cadillac
(http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=390-2) appears on pages 17, 18
and 19.  The picture uses early 90's vintage wheels and a minifig chair
where as the instructions are from the original model and show use of the
large spoked wheels.  It is also missing the final couple of steps where the
roof is constructed.

The other model I recognized was the 371 Sea Plane
(http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=371-3) which appears on pages 21,
22, and 23.  In the picture it is built with red accents but  the
instructions are the originals from 1976.

It's called "Let's recycle sets these kids have never seen before and use more
common pieces in the final image!"  ;)  They just didn't want to spend money on
printing up new instructions.  :)

Is  this a one of a kind document or were there a series of these?

Like I said, these were sent out to Lego Builder's Club Members about a month
or two before their Birthday, as a Birthday Suprise.  :)  So, yes, I guess you
could say there is a series of them.  :)

Jeff

P.S.  My first post since coming back from florida for a couple days, so I just
want to say, "I'm Baaaaaaack!!"  :)
