I recently posted a question on how to clean old LEGO parts and remove
graphics from new ones.
The universal answer was to use Brasso. I picked some up and it worked
great on clear and non-clear pieces.
Here are the results:
White, Juniorized 1x1x5 - Discolored and covered with scratches and block
smudges (aquired from child of friend):
All the splotches and discoloring was removed. The scratches are lessened.
All and all, it looks and feels like a brand new part!
Aquazone, clear-green, hexoganal window with obnoxious sci-fi graphics:
This one took a bit more work, but I was able to get the graphics completely
off. I used pieces of toilet paper (cotton balls would have been better),
and Q-tips for getting the last bits off. The results are no graphics, and
the luster of the piece is preserved. I cannot make out any scratch marks.
Also, I can't see any moire patterns or other funny stuff. Other AFOLS have
had this problem. Maybe I'm just not looking carefullly enough?
UFO, gray 1/4 circular pieces with obnoxious sci-fi graphics:
This piece took a significant amount of time to fix (probably about 5-10
minutes per piece). I again had to use Q-tips to get the last bits off (the
printing clings to any indentations in the plastic). All the contours were
preserved and the luster is great!
Thanks to Shiri, Lindsay, and David for helping me with this.
