I received the JAN/FEB 2000 issue of "Developer Network Journal" (MSDN).
At page 45, Jon Honeyball says:

..... The second item you really need is to get hold of the new O'Reilly
book titled The Unofficial Guide to Lego Mindstorms Robots. The Mindstorms
system is the direct descendent of the work done between Lego and MIT in the
US to create modularised computer bricks which can talk to each other, and
to power and control a range of devices like motors, light sensors etc.
The Mindstorms kit comes with all the pieces you need to make some stunning
robots and related devices, and there is a full COM-oriented programming
environment too. Frankly, anyone with half a brain will want to have a go
programming this stuff, and it is a great way to learn how to program
advanced decoupled self-aware objects - or at least that's what you can tell
your manager.......
