  Re: Brickshelf going away???

(...) Ah, crud. This stinks, seriously. I was going to rebuild my Black Falcon's Fortress next month, too, but I didn't download the instructions yet because I figured they'd always be there. However, I have a simple solution: Host the library via (...) (21 years ago, 27-May-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: When did the "fingernail groove" appear?

(...) "Cross Contamination" continued as late as 1997. I have some copies of 5561 Big Foot 4x4 that had non-grooved grilles as well as at least one Divers set, which I think is the Diving Expedition Explorer. I vaguely remember seeing it in another (...)   Brickshelf going away???

The instruction and catalog scans have been removed. Kevin posted the following message ...   Re: About the term "AFOL"

(...) Go right ahead! I tried checking briefly to see instances of how often 'AFOL' was used to mean 'Adult Friend Of Lego' (because I've seen it said that it can mean either), however I could only find about 5 occurances of it being used that way (...)   Re: Let's replace "AFOL" with "ALE"

(...) I dislike the term "AFOL" and would gladly support a shift to use "ALE" or another non-acronym based phrase. -- Thomas Main thomasmain@myrealbox.com (21 years ago, 27-May-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: About the term "AFOL"

Re: When did the "fingernail groove" appear?

(...) Oh, I forgot to mention.... as an example of old part continuing to show up in new sets... the old gray, old dark gray and old brown will be showing up in various sets for years to come, as we are already starting to see. As long as there is (...) (21 years ago, 27-May-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: When did the "fingernail groove" appear?

(...) Hi Dave, looks like others beat me to the punch.... But speaking of grooves, Lego tiles, which first came into production in late 1965, came without grooves in the tile parts packs #510 (1965), and #471 (1966-68). Trying to date a specific (...) (21 years ago, 27-May-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: When did the "fingernail groove" appear?

(...) When I came across some sets that had never been "cross-contaminated" by other sets I went ahead and took some notes. You can add them to the rest of the observations you get: (URL) it seemed that in 1991 they had introduced the grooved tiles (...) (21 years ago, 27-May-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: When did the "fingernail groove" appear?

(...) According to peeron (not definitive, but certainly a good indicator) there's a fairly neat split around the end of 1994 - (URL) those without grooves> do not appear in any sets after 94, and (URL) those with grooves> don't appear in any sets (...)   When did the "fingernail groove" appear?

Hey all, After another major re-sort of my collection, I decided to separate all the 1x2 grille tiles without the fingernail groove out of my big bag of the grooved kind since it's kinda hard to tell 'em apart while digging. I was surprised to find (...) (21 years ago, 27-May-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: About the term "AFOL"

(...) This is probably my biggest issue with it as well. When I hear the word 'fan' I have a hard time disassociating it from 'fanatic'. Also, I work in an environment where I'm besieged with acronyms daily... sometimes two or three per sentence. I (...) (21 years ago, 26-May-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.faq)

  Re: About the term "AFOL"

(...) Suz's drive-by butt-in.. I don't use AFOL in ref to myself because I don't like it either. Not that it's -horrible-, but I don't feel as though it covers me. "Fan" implies "fanatic", which I'm not. (Though I certainly was ten years ago..) Plus (...) (21 years ago, 26-May-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.faq)

  Re: About the term "AFOL"

(...) I personally dislike refering to myself in accronym form. Accronyms are pretty much an indicator of complete geekishness, which, when cruising the beach for babes, I try to avoid. I usually say "LEGO Fan" and "LEGO Fan Community", and then (...) (21 years ago, 26-May-05, to lugnet.general)

  Re: About the term "AFOL"
