(...) I think it would depend mostly on how well they're designed. The images you cited look more like gamer graphics (rough 3D geometrics covered with "skins" to fill in all of the more specific details), but LDraw is more about fully-functional (...) (...) Most images are centered enough that cropping an eighth off either side won't clip a significant part of the picture. You could also do more abstract thumbs that use only a small portion of the image, but then you would need some descriptions (...)
