Hi all,
Theres this game called Universalis that I
like to play. Its a story-building game that is sometimes portrayed
(mistakenly IMO) as a role-playing game. In Universalis, there are characters
that do things, but control of the characters is shared because, while anyone
might be controlling any character, it is trivially easy for another player to
take control. Anyway, the idea that Universalis would make a very nice game
when crossbred with LEGO has been nagging at me since last summer. I posted
this at the Forge, where the
official discussion forum for Universalis is, so you can see some of the ideas.
My current thought is to build a game that takes place across a new LUGNET
newsgroup and private FTX documents that we interlink. I am assuming that MOCs
will be support features for the Universalis game and that well accrete a
collection of work that forms a game world rendered in LEGO.
I invite anyone who may be interested in collaborative story-telling through The
Brick to read up on (and ideally, purchase) Universalis. And to suggest your
level of interest here and to discuss how we should implement the game.
Universalis is kind of a game toolkit/framework and allows for very dramatic
rules customization, so our ability to make it fit our needs is quite assured.
Thoughts? Interest? Questions?
Chris

| (...) Would that I had time to play. As for thoughts, I would take "LEGO" out of the name, as it probably violates the Fair Play policy (URL). Too bad, though. Brickversalis and PBBversalis just don't have the same ring. You might even run into (...) (20 years ago, 25-Jan-05, to lugnet.gaming, FTX)
