Is it just me, or does it seem that the games were developed by a bunch
of different companies that didn't bother to test their games against
each other, didn't bother to use a common set of installed drivers, and
didn't bother to get the look and feel consistent?
IMHO as a former (bbs, text based) games developer, a consistent look
and feel is key to a better experience, and using the same DirectX and
so forth drivers reduces the amount of special development you have to
do (you can create one installer, one framework to develop the game in,
etc...)
As a consumer, having games from the same company interact with each
other badly is pretty unacceptable. I know that games in general are
like that but you'd hope that TLG would have gotten it right.
We've bought ALL the games so far and out of the what, 8, of them, only
something like 5 work even 1/2 way... right now Loco and Chess don't
work at all, Island messes up my system settings, Racers hangs my
machine 1 time out of 2 and so forth.
