All About Family the community group we run here in Minneapolis has been
partnering with Architects, Architecture Students, Families with their Children
and other University of Minnesota Students to create fun and encouraging
projects while learning about architecture and history. Our project this month
was a project where we built a model of a church that was primarily African
American from rural Minnesota in the 1920s and 1930s. The name of the Church was
Central Baptist Church. Jesus Christ was the center of that community and the
church was a foundational piece to their lives there in Fergus Falls, Minnesota
(which is nearby Fargo North Dakota). This model is going to be on display at
the History Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota and there will be an opportunity for
other families to build their own models and learn about their own family
history. Take a look at the preliminary model:

We also did a model of the Splitrock Lighthouse from Lake Superior. Sincerely,
Brian Kelley
