  Re: An acronym FAQ

Arrr...rrrgh!!!...!!! Somehow, a very VERY long list of acronyms that I worked on for the past hour managed to delete itself!!! I am quite annoyed, and I'm not gonna start over again!!! This isn't the first time this kind of thing happens to me, and (...) (25 years ago, 6-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: An acronym FAQ

(...) Oh, absolutely! :-, Here's a decent head-start, Derek Schin's rec.toys.lego acronym list: (URL) I mentioned, this list is for rec.toys.lego, and has quite a few acronyms not in common usage on LUGNET; I think it would be useful to break it up (...) (25 years ago, 6-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: An acronym FAQ

(...) don't (...) Yeah, I had a tough time too... (...) That's what I meant by the second sentence ;-) (...) I think that I'll start working on it soon. I will need some help for Pirate and Space acronyms as I know there *are* many, but I only know (...) (25 years ago, 5-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: An acronym FAQ

(...) newsgroups, i quickly figured out what pieces the terms refered to, but it took months to finally figure out what the acronyms stood for. Big Ugly Rock Piece!? how's anyone supposed to get that!? i personally don't find Ramp And Pit Plates all (...) (25 years ago, 5-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: An acronym FAQ

(...) Well, *I* certainly need one, so there's at least an audience of one. I remember some of them from the old RTL days: newcomers would certainly benefit. I'd suggest beraking it down into sections like "LEGO related" (AFOL, BURP, POOP, RTL) and (...) (25 years ago, 5-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

  An acronym FAQ

I was thinking of creating an Acronym FAQ. I've noticed that many people don't know certain acronyms and can't figure them out from the context. Do you think there is need for one? I know that earlier ones were made but long ago, and new acronyms (...) (25 years ago, 5-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

Re: what (who?) was the first artculated mini-fig?

(...) says (...) A billion parts left over, that is. (25 years ago, 5-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

Re: what (who?) was the first artculated mini-fig?

(...) part(head (...) I meant one person gets a pair of legs, another gets the torso, and another gets the head, so nobody gets a complete minifig.(There would be nearly a billion minifig parts, though) Alan (25 years ago, 5-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

Re: what (who?) was the first artculated mini-fig?

Alan: (...) Then a lot of peopl must have died recently. I have a vague memory of reading that we are now more than six billion people on this planet. But it is still a lot of minifigs. Play well, Jacob (who feels sorry for those who haven't got a (...) (25 years ago, 4-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

  Re: LDraw/dat questions

Hi Brian. (...) One is being developed at the moment. It seems to run on Linux, MacOS, and MS-Windows (of some kind). (...) I think there are programs to convert to and from some CAD formats. (...) I don't think we have a program for that yet, but (...) (25 years ago, 4-Feb-00, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.faq)

Re: what (who?) was the first artculated mini-fig?

thanks, all for the great responses! great information, too! my first articulated mini-fig was a pirate 5 years ago, but i still have the "face & limb-less ones" from an old police station set. (...) ah-ha! and even the "missing link" i was looking (...) (25 years ago, 3-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

Re: what (who?) was the first artculated mini-fig?

(...) <snip> The Ultimate LEGO book says they came out in 1978. Related fact: LEGO says 2.3 billion minifigs have been made since 1978. That's one minifig part(head and hair, pants, torso) for every person on earth! Alan (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

Re: what (who?) was the first artculated mini-fig?

I'll agree to that. One of my favoriter sets from that year was 208 Mother with Baby Carriage, featuring a MaxiFig and a minifig. I distinctly remember getting 885 Space Scooter and 889 Radar Truck that year, in Toronto at a Kiwanis International (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

Re: what (who?) was the first artculated mini-fig?

Those sets show up first in the 1978 catalog. also if you look at the 1978 NL catalog there are many sets with minifigs. I don't think we can pin it down to one minifig, but I believe 1978 was the year. KL (...) Released (...) version (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)

Re: what (who?) was the first artculated mini-fig?

Not according to the LUGNET database. But I'll be the first to admit that that was my only source. At any rate, those *are* the first sets to include minifigs. If it was 1977 or 78 when they were released is still up for debate. So to answer the (...) (25 years ago, 2-Feb-00, to lugnet.faq)
