No. There's a trick that someone came up with where you slip a rare-earth
magnet between the two magnetic couplers of adjacent cars. It results in a much
stronger coupling than you'd get with standard magnets, but it doesn't require
special parts or construction. Basically, you can do this at any time, with any
train, without having to rebuild anything, and without requiring parts that
people might not own (if you've bought even a single 9v train, it's a safe bet
that you have at least _one_ magnetic coupler). And doing so will allow them to
gauge the true pulling strength of each train, beyond what the stock magnets are
likely to be able to keep up with.
