Once again this year, The LEGO Group will play a wonderful part in the
Brickworld event.
This year, we expect 15 LEGO attendees at the event. I have listed their role
at LEGO as I understand it wherever possible (I am sorry I dont know everyone):
Steve Witt - US Community Development,
Tormod Askildsen - Head of Community Development (and our keynote speaker),
Jamie Berard - Designer,
Roger Cameron,
Shawn Curtis,
Scott Decoteau,
Skip Kodak - Vice President of Retail,
Lewis Pinault,
Paal Smith-Meyer - marketing lead,
Elisabeth Rankich,
Henrik Krogh,
Isabelle Jacquinot,
Helle Friberg,
Jordyn Wnek,
and John Coughlin - Retail District Manager
We are very excited to have this much support from LEGO. In addition, LEGO will
be running several events on Saturday evening at the hotel. These are:
1) There will be a 16 person bracketed chess tournament with the final match
being playing on the new UCS chess board with the winner getting to take it
home. This will be some kind of speed chess. So, start boning up your
skills.
2) There will be a building competition with new Star Wars product and a speed
build featuring an upcoming LEGO set. (sorry - the set is a secret)
3) There will be a speed build. (oops - sorry - this set is a secret too)
And, on top of all of this, the LEGO Group is also providing sets for several
additional alternate build contests throughtout the event. And, the LEGO Group
are also providing lots of prizes and other fun materials for the event.
We are now just a little over a week away from the event. We hope you can find
your way to the Westin Hotel in Wheeling, IL sometime next weekend for the fun.
We want to show the LEGO Group how much we appreicate their support of community
events like Brickworld.
We look forward to seeing you in Chicago!!!
Regards, the Brickworld Team
