I wrote this up a few days, but apparently it failed to post.
Right now UA offers a $219 fare roundtrip from LAX to PDX. This is considerably
less than a month ago, despite their “winter sale” that started earlier than
that.
Also, there’s a very nice new tool for applying historic airline rates to find
the best time to buy on a particular route at farecast.com (this was written up
in cnn.com last week). It also has a superior mechanism for finding fares across
multiple airlines.
