I was amazed by two things:
1. the portion of the frame that remained intact
2. the fact that none of the Technic beams broke. I was figuring that some
beams would have broken.
Of course one thing that probably helped both of the above things is that
most of the weight either just rests on (the tower doesn't attach) or is
just held by a few magnets. I'm guessing the hull panels separated at the
very beginning of the impact moment. The result would be that the only load
on the frame for most of the impact would be the weight of the frame itself.
The carpeted floor also helped of course.
