Hi all. As the magical date grows closer and closer, the anticipation grows
with it. From everything Ive seen, this is shaping up to be a monumental event.
I cant wait to get there.
As a lot of you already know, I am hosting a minifig roundtable
http://news.lugnet.com/announce/?n=2350 and Ive gotten some good feedback on
this. Id like to add to the festivities.
Joe Meno posted a call to gather space sigfigs for a group photo
http://news.lugnet.com/events/brickfest/?n=2134. In the spirit of this, I
invite as many other groups (do you hear that Festival of the Moon people, and
all you LTC and LUG groups?) who are organizing an event to do similar
gatherings. Ill be glad to help. Id love to get all these sigfigs together in
the roundtable and see how many we can get. If you have sigfigs and are not a
part of any category (Space, Trains, Castle, etc) but would like to send sigfigs
(following Joe Menos same rules), please send me email geoffgr@comporium.net
and Ill hook you up. Also, if you are coordinating an event and think your
group would be able to participate, shoot me an email. Lets make everything
about Brickfest PDX awesome!
Now, for those of you who dont know what a sigfig is......well, if you come to
our roundtable on Saturday, well show you all about it. Well also give you a
little history lesson on the minifig. Well also discuss (the roundtable part)
how to get a universal database of all minifigs, including sigfigs. Id like to
see it include set lists, pictures and rough pricing based on Bricklink
histories.
About the swapmeet - It seems as though were going to have a wonderful
bazaar setup so thats a great opportunity to help round out your collection. If
you are a dealer at PDX, BRING LOTS OF MINIFIGS (that was a hint). If you are
not a dealer, but have specific minifigs you need, or specific ones youd like
to swap, send me a list. I am going to try to get out as much notice before
Brickfest to allow people to plan what to bring. If in doubt, though, bring as
much as you can carry.
Finally, dont forget to pick your favorite minifig (or your sigfig) and put it
on your nametag (alongside your Travis Kunce commemorative brick). Look forward
to seeing all of you there.
The Grayman
:-)
