The GFLTC/GFLUG held an event celebrating Father's Day called the Build with
Dad Day at the Hudson Regional Library. Many thanks to Kristin Brand of the
library and her helpful volunteers Juan, Sarah and Robert. Also, special
thanks to Robin for bringing his mini train layout along for display. And
to Lego Direct for donating a K8 for the dads/granddads and kids to take
away their MOCs.
This was on Saturday June 8, 2002 from 1 pm to 3 pm and there are 2 more
similar events at the Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library June 15 at 9 am-12
noon and the New River Branch Library June 15 at 2 pm-4 pm.
I must admit it was an outstanding turnout with about 60 people and after a
1 hour demo on Lego tips and Technic and Mindstorms, it was a "feeding
frenzy" at the tables with LEGO bricks.
Judging from the pictures, a lot of dads and granddads had as much fun
building with Lego as the kids did and Kristin is to be commended for
thinking up such a wonderful idea of an event. Pictures are at:

My favorite MOC was made by a dad which was a smiley face whose smile was
made with the Light Grey 2x2x10 double wedge (or whatever you call it) shape.
All in all a very fun afternoon.

| KK, What a great sounding event, looks like everyone was having a good time. I always like seeing creative ideas for LEGO events, and ones that show families how much LEGO fun can be had by all family members working together. Super job! jt (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jun-02, to lugnet.events)
