Last 11th, 12th and 13th of July 2008, LEGO Canada held an event in Quebec City
(Canada) for the 400th anniversary of the foundation of the city (a metropolitan
area of ¾ of a million people). With the help its citizens, a giant flag of the
city was constructed with over 100 000 bricks

QuéLUG (www.quelug.org) held the first part of its regular summer meeting there
on Saturday morning (12th). Lucky for LEGO, because they were unlucky…
A shipment of blue bricks was held at the border. The LEGO representative was
quick on his feet and remembered that many boxes were in a warehouse in Toronto,
he knew they contained blue bricks… mixed with other colors. They only thing
left was to sort out the blue pieces.
This is the lucky part. We helped LEGO sort out the blue bricks. What was
interesting is that while we were sorting, lots of people that came to build the
flag were coming to our help sorting. This was the biggest sorting event I ever
saw. Mixed bricks were unloaded on the four tables. People were dropping the
blue bricks in an empty bin while all the other colors were dump in a second
one. At the end, the only thing I was doing was emptying boxes to be sorted on
the four tables, I was barely keeping up. In less than three hours, we sorted
