I ran a Lego Storytelling workshop at my church camp (www.suusi.org) last
week. We came up with four stories: a depiction of the teen vs. young adult
capture-the-flag water fight (ninjas vs. pirates), interpretations of The Man
Who Planted Hope and Grew Happiness and Sector 7, and (in the spirit of this
post: http://news.lugnet.com/build/vignette/?n=441) an homage to Arthur C.
Clarke. Check it out:

Sector 7 is still under construction--stay tuned!
To run the workshop, I shipped about 100 lbs. of bricks and minifigs. That
sounds like a lot, but it had to stretch quite a ways, especially since I had no
idea what sort of stories the workshop participants would want to do.
I also used these supplies (and forty pounds of lumber) to run an event inspired
by the Revs Ultimate Lego Vehicle Contest (see
http://news.lugnet.com/announce/moc/?n=2021). It was a huge hit in all but
one regard. I had designed the event to make ten-year-olds cry (as many as
possible), but we had no tears whatsoever. Just a huge crowd of delighted
children. Ill have to try harder next summer.
