Re: BrickFest registration fees (was: LEGO Adult Fan Convention at Legoland California?)

(...) What about the literally thousands of hours that Christina has given of her time to get the thing going--along with all the other dedicated volunteers in the past, and the hundreds of hours Joe spent this year to pull it all together. To truly (...) (18 years ago, 8-Sep-06, to lugnet.events, lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Re: Brickfest 2006 : 8285 Speedbuild new record (pics loaded!)

(...) Well, there's all the rules right there! And the time was misconstrued by us as 2 hours, 42 minutes. We were allowed looser rules (I think we were allowed to rip the instructions), so different methods were done. I agree that a uniform set of (...) Yvonne, it was great getting to meet you an Pete. Glad you had a great time and I hope we get to see you guys again next year! -Jason (URL) (18 years ago, 8-Sep-06, to lugnet.events)

Re: Brickfest 2006 : 8285 Speedbuild new record (pics loaded!)

(...) Hi, before the 1000steine Land we didn't have any information about what set to build and who will build. 5 people were selected to build, and the rules were: -Build the set as fast as possible -Only use one set of instructions and do not rip (...)   Brickfest - Thanks etc.

Folks, I'm a bit late in posting after Brickfest but I did want to make sure I actually said a huge thank you to all who organised the event and coordinated the displays. Extra special thanks to the town crew for letting me include my street in the (...) (18 years ago, 8-Sep-06, to lugnet.events)

Re: BrickFest registration fees (was: LEGO Adult Fan Convention at Legoland California?)

(...) One of the reasons a lot of people I know have complained is because the price is higher than a lot of other events, such as science fiction conventions and anime conventions, and they've felt it just isn't worth the same, especially (...)   BrickFest registration fees (was: LEGO Adult Fan Convention at Legoland California?)

In lugnet.events, Tommy Armstrong wrote: snip (...) I guess I'm one of those people - not that I complained, I just didn't go because I couldn't afford it. The last BF I went to (in '04), I probably spent around $125 total for registration, (...) (18 years ago, 8-Sep-06, to lugnet.events, lugnet.events.brickfest, FTX)

Re: LEGO Adult Fan Convention at Legoland California?

(...) That's a great idea! I did some looking around and found this- Sheraton's in San Diego- (URL) in Anaheim (it does cover LA too)- (URL) 3 There needs to be a public day--after all that is the AFOL "outreach" and it (...)   Brickvention 2006 photos

Hi All, Finally, after a bit of a delay (hey, I've been busy with work, OK?) I've managed to post a couple of hundred photos I took at Brickvention in June. They cover the whole weekend from setup to the final presentations and are only a click (...) (18 years ago, 8-Sep-06, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.events) !

Re: LEGO Adult Fan Convention at Legoland California?

(...) I really have done some serious thinking about this whole convention thing-and here are some other thoughts. 1: What made this BrickFest possible at the venue at which it was held was the fact that if a certain number of rooms were booked, the (...)   Re: Brickfest 2006 : 8285 Speedbuild new record (pics loaded!)

(...) Hi Christian, I guess there needs to be a couple of clarifications. Or something like that. Our attempt was based on sketchy information - at the time, there were no announcements online about the attempt by y'all, so we did not have a count (...)   Re: LEGO Adult Fan Convention at Legoland California?

(...) Yes! Although I'm pretty close to equidistant from San Diego and Seattle, driving to Seattle always seems like a much bigger trip. I'd much prefer to drive South. As for time of year, I don't know, propose some dates and I'll tell you yea or (...) (18 years ago, 7-Sep-06, to lugnet.events)

Re: LEGO Adult Fan Convention at Legoland California?

(...) I think Tommy has the right idea. I do NOT want to have an event at LLCA simply because when it comes to display and meeting facilities, dare I say it, LLCA sucks (remember BricksWest 2003 and the rained out tent!). If an event were to be held (...) (18 years ago, 7-Sep-06, to lugnet.events)

Re: LEGO Adult Fan Convention at Legoland California?

(...) Yes. I have never been and would love to do an outing to the park in conjunction with a con. That said, I suggest it be done as an optional "add-on" preferably the day BEFORE the main con starts. ie: Con runs Friday-Sunday with bus excursion (...) (18 years ago, 7-Sep-06, to lugnet.events)

Re: LEGO Adult Fan Convention at Legoland California?

(...) I am not really sure that it is necessary to have it at Legoland-- The way I see it, people who go to Lego Conventions are not really that interested in the Legoland experience unless there could be a really interesting behind the scenes tour (...) (18 years ago, 7-Sep-06, to lugnet.events)

Re: LEGO Adult Fan Convention at Legoland California?

(...) Being at the park is not a draw for me. I just spent four days in DC and never saw the capital. While a bummer, if I'm going to travel to a fest, most likely I'll stay at the fest and reserve sight seeing for some other time with my family. (...) (18 years ago, 7-Sep-06, to lugnet.events)

Re: Brickfest 2006 : 8285 Speedbuild new record (pics loaded!)

(...) Hi, I'm not 100% sure I'll understand your record. I was one of the 5 (yes, we were only 5 people) people building that set at the 1000steine Land in Berlin. According to the official LEGO time keeper we needed 2 hours 09 minutes and 42 (...) (18 years ago, 7-Sep-06, to lugnet.events.brickfest) !!

Re: LEGO Adult Fan Convention at Legoland California?

(...) I'm definitely interested in attending another fan event at LEGOLAND. The draw of visiting the park and AFOL MOC displays in the park make it a great location. Two or three days with a mix of public displays and convention seminars seems to (...) (18 years ago, 7-Sep-06, to lugnet.events)

Re: LEGO Adult Fan Convention at Legoland California?

Great topic Todd and timely too. GPLR (Greater Portland LEGO Railroaders) are already working on something up here in Portland. There have been so many requests for another BrickFest PDX that we thought we'd do it again! So far we've started talking (...) (18 years ago, 6-Sep-06, to lugnet.events)
