Way to go Kaz,
sounds like you had heaps of fun.Looking forward to seeing the photos. The
airport idea is a great one. I would love a few decent jumbo's with
transparent windows. (never managed to track down any of the older ones)
Maybe your wish that someone from TLC will take notes on our Duplo requests,
will be granted,  with the arrival of Brad Justus amongst us. (can't wait
for Lego Direct)  Although I have no idea whether lugnet.Duplo is read by
him.
Brad are you there? It would be nice to know whether some of our needs, and
wants for Duplo are being taken seriously.
Your call for more windows and doors is seconded here. And the shelf type
units in the houses are all very well, but lets have more plain walls, and
window and door sets, or even better, the ability to buy whatever we need in
quantities, from Lego Direct.
Brad, don't forget the Duplo fans. The value of my Duplo at least matches
that of my Lego, and I know there are many others here who are spending
serious cash on Duplo. Our needs are important too.

Rachel :-) (who will take be taking up Karens challenge very soon! Karen,
good work!)

OK .... a bit of a challenge to you all :-) We have been complaining about • the
latest offerings put forth by TLG in regard to Duplo (I have protested • quite
loudly to anyone who will listen to me rant about the falling standard in
quality and really poor themes .... I could start going on with it all • over
again but instead, I thought I would do something constructive. This • afternoon
I sat down with my daughter and decided to see if we could make up our own
dream set by combining  the elements of our numerous sets and making our
own "New" Duplo line made up of already existing components and then • adding
our own wishlist of pieces to make the sets complete. What we could build • at
the moment we did ... and we are just hoping that TLG gives us the new • pieces
in next years line :-} please oh please :-)
Here goes ....
MEGA AIRPORT
Most of the components already exist in the form of set #'s 2676 (Private
Plane), 2679 (Airport), 2677 (Fire Helicopter), 2619 (Helicopter) and if I • had
them I would add 2678 (Jumbo Jet) and 2641 (Airliner). HINT HINT time to
release NEW PLANES !!!!
We then made our own Airport terminal complete with Luggage conveyor belt
(complete with suitcases) by using the Conveyor from 2655 (Farm) and the
numerous suitcases we have accumulated. Our terminal was made out of a • HUGE
PILE of plain red bricks, the clock from 2658 (Fire Station) and just • about
every yellow window block we could lay our hands on .... I would love them • to
release a bucket with specialist window pieces .... not just the plain 2x8
window blocks we get at the moment ... some with larger plastic/perspex • areas
would be GREAT !!!! Doors would also be appreciated :-) We also used the
Perspex "Dome" pieces from our various sets that contain them (like 2685
Waterpark)to give our airport terminal a "glass" roof. The finishing touch • was
the small roof pieces from the barn in 2655 (Farm).... pictures coming • soon on
my website (after January 29th ... when I next get access to a digital • camera)

Now the pieces we think would be great to top this little creation off • ......
*Runway Baseplates ..... if they can do it with regular Lego why not
Duplo .... Road plates would be a great addition and could double up as a
runway with no problem at all.
*Freight/Cargo Plane and Forklift .... I know ... Toolo is an option but I • am
still hoping for a regular Duplo Forklift ... surely not that hard to make • ??
The Cargo is already made with the brown boxes from the Dinosaur sets • perfect
for this.
Now while I don't expect any new sets to be anywhere near as elaborate as
this ... it just shows that a lot of the older components could be used to
make great new sets. The Farm conveyor belt works a treat as a luggage
carrier ... all we need is a carousel ... haven't quite figured that one • out
yet .... any suggestions ??? and the Terminal was actually pretty simple • to
make. I liked the older style "block" buildings and despise the newer • shelf
style walls (makes everything look like a supermarket !!) which is why we • made
it up from our supply of blocks. The problem is that until we dismantle • this
it pretty much limits any future building projects ... especially those • that
require red blocks :-\ If a new terminal building was released made up of
perspex and block style pieces, doors and windows (no writing on them • please
though so we can use them as multi purpose building pieces !!) it would be • a
much better solution. This has gone on for way too long ... just shows how
little I have thought of the recent offerings .... If TLG was willing to • make
a whole new bunch of pieces for the Forest Friends (BLAAAH !!!) then • surely it
isn't too much to ask for some new style walls, windows and doors ... add
these to some of the old components and create some decent sets
with "playability" !!! Just MHO .... anyone else care to come up with a • new
set ??? I have a hundred and one ideas for completely new themes and lines • as
well as hoping for a re-release of some old favourites but this was just
something we did to make up for the fact that we won't be buying any of • the
new line ... at least none of what we have seen so far ... maybe a train
set ... but I will have to think about that one. Here's hoping for • something
better to come along and tempt me to buy "new" duplo instead of wasting my • $$$
on ebay !!!
Kaz :-)
