Or, building a large set like the grey castles, and wondering why a certain
piece was used in a certain spot. Then, 17 steps later, seeing why that
exact piece had to be in that exact spot and thinking "wow - I never would
have realized that!"
And yes, occasionally you made mistakes. You would get to a spot, and
something wouldn't work correctly. First you would say "there has to be a
mistake in the directions", (didn't we all say that at least once? <grin>)
but then you would double and triple-check your work, and maybe work
backwards several steps, until the "Aha!" moment when you found what you had
missed. Being rewarded for problem solving, what a radical idea!
I miss those days! I miss sitting down with a big ol' box of bricks and
building something great. And then after it was built, did you just set it
on a shelf to display it? Nope - you PLAYED with it. There were always new
stories to create and scenes to play. And maybe another set that could
combine with this one, to make it even bigger and better...
