Here is a scan of the front page of the instructions for 8035

The piece count for 8035 in the database is in brackets. The box to this set
clearly shows 173 interlocking pieces.
The box I have for 8710 was opened & didn't have an instruction book.
Considering it is a parts pack, I doubt it ever had one.
