I looked at the NEW Castles last night before bed - and was so happy to
see that TLG is getting back on track!  I just looked over the whole
catalog, and I have some questions and thoughts.
No one else has mentioned the Race theme mentioned on page 19... it looks
like there will be further year 2000 releases, including this new theme.
Race cars have always been among my favorite sets to collect and build, so
thats cool with me, though others may say there have been enough.
Incidentally, I have seen most of the new games for sale by now - and
wonder if any are fun?  I would think they include this new catalog, too?
The arctic theme is terrific - if I were nearing a second Dark Age, this
theme would prevent that instantly.
The new 6600 is the best City Center kit yet - probably the best Town kit
in a few years.  I'll bet its way over priced.
The new fire truck, 6477, is, unfortunately, a POC (piece of crap).
But... the mini-figs look very cool.
The new Technic and Futbol sets look like new Technic and Futbol sets,
which I have not yet acquired a taste for.
That said, 2000 is the best year since I emerged from my Dark Ages.

   Now about my favorite theme...
These are pretty good.  They are the best in at least 5 years.
6095 reminds me of 383/6083 and 1584/6060 - and properly, at last, they
have included a King in such a kit.  Although its small, it looks well put
together and full of good pieces.
6026 easily reminds me of my favorite small (and maidenless) kit ever,
6035.  For building, this new version blows (reminiscent of 6020), but for
accessories, it comes close, though its hard to beat that horse rider
mini-fig from 6035.
6094 is fairly unique, and a cool looking set for its size.  I will buy a
bunch of it.
6091 is nicer looking than 6090, for what that's worth.  I think the
stained glass pieces are great - they take me back to 1987, gawking at the
Guarded Inn, for those scarce and great red wall pieces.  The maiden in the
tower is perfect and the coat of arms is nice - unlike any recent coat of
arms carried by mini-figs.  The treasure chest launcher is not something I
expected, to say the least.
I wonder what is the name of these new characters?
   Who is their new foe?
The second grouping of Castle sets looks awesome to me.  There is a new
6012 in 4806 - and I like it better than the original.  Those new wheels
intrigue me - can't wait to get my hands on some.
6032 is a good replacement for 6030 - while I will always like the
original, I always found it somewhat plain - less than it could have been.
Of course, that was good, as it inspired me to improve it, but I confidently
believe I can enhance this new one, too.
6096 is splendid - lots of vehicles (and mini-figs) in one kit.  I like
what they have built, and I am sure I can build some wicked war machines
myself with that variety of pieces, especially if I buy ten of it.
Anyway, I am happy about the return of Castle.  Thank you, TLG.

   Have fun!

(...) If you are talking about the part I think you are talking about then it is simply brown versions of the y-wing engine piece 4 x 4 roubd bricks. -- Jonathan Wilson wilsonj@xoommail.com (URL) (25 years ago, 9-Nov-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.castle)
