  Re: doh!

(...) There's a trick I use to build walls with these pieces. Unfortunately, it uses the somewhat rare white pirate (castle) wall pieces as well. You could, of course, use black or grey just as easily. You can position the columns in front of the (...) (25 years ago, 11-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: ???Question???

Hi Richard! for future reference, it's better to start a new thread instead of replying to a current one (if you're not replying to it, that is). (...) I haven't heard of one. (...)   ???Question???

  Re: Castle World?

(...) Last I heard Pawel was under the threat of VERY significant exams, and Craigo was acting the "redneck"... They're both probably in recovery mode as we write... -- Richard (25 years ago, 10-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Castle World?

Well, if Pawel's Classes are going anything like mine... his teachers are behind and pushing hard to catch up with all they were supposed to be teaching us this semester.. so he's probably about as swamped as I am :( Especially since didn't he say (...) (25 years ago, 10-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

<snip a lot> (...) You and me both, brother. The oldies are the goodies. Give me Donkey Kong and Pac Man over Crash Bandicoot and "insert game title" 64 anyday! -Chris (25 years ago, 9-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

(...) The staircase. Fort Legoredo is the one of that genre of sets I missed, of course. I need to go see if the TRU near home still had those... I was hoping to wait 'til clearance. :) (...) So, of course, which do I have more of in my collection? (...) (25 years ago, 9-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: doh!

(...) Tell me about it... I am just now beginning to re-appreciate them (as a kid I really wanted them, but...). Once I get some better funds, I'll consider shelling some dough on a pirate set or two (or ten). (...) What, the staircase? or the set? (...) (25 years ago, 9-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: doh!

(...) Yeah, this is the problem. I'd never been much into pirate, see, and now I note all those pirate sets that had a whole bunch of parts that'd be useful today... (...) Hm, didn't even know that one existed. (...) This is the type I was thinking (...) (25 years ago, 9-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: doh!

(...) Yup, I know, but he asked if any were in current production. Other sets include 725, 4020, 6276, 6277, and undoubtedly a few more... (...) Yes, they did, I have some. :) I just thought there where more than there actually are. ;) (see below) (...) (25 years ago, 9-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Castle World?

(...) Same here; I'm hard at work for my first chapter, which combines some very early efforts (search for the "disappearing act" thread for more details ;-) as well as some things I've been working on with Matthew Wikins (The Cheese)... and some (...) (25 years ago, 9-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: doh!

(...) There are; but they're not currently in production. Like in <set:6265 this set>. But I doubt you could get them cheaply... (...) Nu-uh. BV had only spiral staircases, IIRC. OTOH, there are at least two types of straight staircases; one came (...) (25 years ago, 9-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: doh!

(...) I've found the best way is layers of bricks or plates on top and bottom strengthen it enough. This is one of the reasons I don't really use it; it gobbles up plates, and bricks make it too tall... :) (I had forgotten about this use of those (...) (25 years ago, 9-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: doh!

(...) While I don't woosh castles, I do manipulate them-- for example, my current version has levels that one can lift off one another. I find that when one goes with a design like that, it looks a lot better, much, much better. But some fool (...) (25 years ago, 9-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

(...) ??? I often throw them into the middle of walls, and they seem to work fine. I try to make sure they are well braced from the top and the bottom, and not line too many of them up, but I have had little problem with them as a structral element. (...)   Re: doh!

(...) What?? You mean I've been doing the wrong thing for the past fifteen years?!?! ;) (...) These parts are really only structurally sound when used as pillars. They work well supporting walkways in castle walls. :) (...) Brasso will remove dirt, (...) (25 years ago, 9-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

  doh!

I suspect I'm the only one who hadn't figured this out yet: Castles aren't starships. I figured this out last night. See, I'm building a largely white inner keep for the current revision of the Never Completed Castle. Since it's largely white, I get (...) (25 years ago, 9-May-00, to lugnet.castle)

Re: VLC Castle Meeting a Success

(...) Wow, those are really cool torture devices! I really liked that Iron Maiden. ;) The castles are great, too. I hope you can get some more, bigger, pictures of them.
