Hiya all...
I've been real busy lately.. so havent built much....
I just saw the post on marketplaces etc...
Those of you who are newer to Lugnet, may not have seen my website...

If you go to the "Structures Section"
or go see Chapters 2 and 3 in the story,
You will see my City of Brahnsturt
The City has a town square.. sort of marketplace,
Have a look at the pictures...
Most Medieval towns and cities had a town square,
where the local market was, so people in the area and visitors could shop
for their needs.
Also, most larger markets, had a toll for visitors not from the town or city,
So most markets or town squares had a toll booth or gatehouse or a simple
archway to get to the town square, these were gaurded too.
The local town sherif was in charge of the markets and tolls too.
Also, every morning the markets were open, the local people were alowed to
go to the market a couple of hours earlier than any visitors, so they could
get the best deals..... so armed soldiers were quite common at and around
markets to keep the peace...!!
The buildings that lined the streets, were very narrow and tall, as a person
paid tax on the shop frontage, the wider the shop, the more tax they had to
pay.... thats why they were so narrow and built with a few floors going up..!!

Just thought this may interest some of you,
As with everything I build, I do alot of research into the subject first
before I build, making the finished model more realistic.
