Hello@all,
today I took myself time to finish my desert landscape and the outcome can
be seen here:
http://www.1000steine.de/gallery3/g220/index.pl?search=1&header=id&method=exact
Since there's no english text for each picture, here are the descriptions:
1) Zafar, the desert fortress, early in the morning.
2) The dignitary's henchmen are awaiting a caravan for sheikh Simaad ibn
Shajiis.
3) Mubaraah is the chieftain of them, but they say that he's actually a
lizard priest.
4) Ahmeez is a fearless Desert's Son and the only one who dares to speak out
his mistrus of Mubaraah.
5) The dark wizard Taahafa Al-Zakee saved the sheikh a few years ago; since
this day he's his private sorcerer and physician.
6) Noone could ever suspect what he's hatching in private, such insane is
the magic of the old summoner.
7) The sheikh is looking over the desert every morning...
8) He awaits the caravan too, because he wants wine and shimmer trinkets out
of the Occident.
9) The dignitary walks through the halls.
10) The jailer at work...
11) The sheikh's main wife is going to the quarters of the stable boys.
12) A few miles away, the caravan winds through the dunes.
13) Lihmaan rides the ships of the desert for years.
14) Well, the camels have two legs only...
15) The "bibeds" are fully loaded with different goods.
16) Such glimmer stuff engages the nomad raiders!
17) This is the oasis Quelaah, located only a few miles away from Zafar.
18) Desert dragonies burrow in other animal's feces, searching for some
undigested food. This is disgusting, I know, so in this picture the
dragonies are just sitting around :-)
19) See: Somebody bought a real flying carpet!
20) At the market, you can sell or trade all things...
21) Everyday somebody is the poor wretch who must go for water.
22) The dark lord of the lizard warriors... And who's beside him...?
23) The tents are protecting of the sun at day and of coldness in the night.
Leg Godt!
René

| amazingly cool! i like the story! and also how you really managed to capture the essence of a psuedo-arabian world.. but i must ask, how many harry potter sets did you have to buy to get all those turbans? it seems like they're twenty or more. i'm (...) (22 years ago, 26-Jun-02, to lugnet.castle)

| Good work, Rene! I especially like the flying carpet and the vultures. The dead beast in the desert is a nice touch. Josh (22 years ago, 26-Jun-02, to lugnet.castle)

| I only have one problem with the castle and that is that it's gonna be awful hot with all those black walls.. Also I doubt there would be any materials in a desert area that would lend themselves to being black.. I know that's a small thing when we (...) (22 years ago, 27-Jun-02, to lugnet.castle)

| Excellent work, René! Love the striped SNOT-sided tents at the oasis, and the two-barrel trough in image 17. It's great to see enough turbans to actually look like a group of Arabs. Here's hoping LEGO will come out with an Arabian line. It would (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jun-02, to lugnet.castle)
