Hey Y'all:

I have set up a teeny webpage to illustrate the difference between the two
older types of classic helmets: the one with the thinner chinstrap, and the
one with the extra thick chinstrap. See the webpage here:

If Lego Direct does decide to rerelease older castle sets like the Yellow
Castle, I would hope that they could and would go the extra mile and make
the old style helmets (at least the extra thick chinstrap one) and the old
style visors as well.  As it turns out, the helmet with the added thickness
to the chinstrap does interact differently with the old style visors
inasmuch as the visor cannot rest quite as far down on that helmet as it
does on the helmets with the thinner chinstrap -- at least that's how it
seemed to me.

Anyway, I was just trying to clear up a minor mystery for myself in that I
had never seen a split or broken chinstrap on any of my older helmets as
others' have claimed is common to this style of helmet.  If there is an
answer to this mystery it would simply be that all of my classic helmets are
of the extra thick chinstrap type and not of the thinner chinstrap type
which might be more susceptible to this kind of damage.  Now that I have
acquired this grey helmet, perhaps it will split on me at some point -- I
dunno...
