Re: CASTLE ALIVE (Re: banner year for castle)

(...) Unfortunately, it's the legacy of Jack Stone: (URL) I think the reason for all the juniorized parts is that it could be cheaper to produce and handle, say, one 1x2x5 than five 1x2s. Or, one BURP rock vs. the equivalent several dozen bricks. (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

  Re: banner year for castle

(...) No, it's more like, "Who approaches the bridge of death must answer me these questions three, ere the other side ye see!" But seriously, I agree with the others, this is a great year for castle! Maybe not the best sets, but still great!! My (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: banner year for castle

(...) I too was eagerly awaiting the new batch of Lego Castle sets. I must say I really am dissapointed in the general design (very junior!) and the colors of the weapons (gold & red blades - what the...?!)... I was certainly the last one to start (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: banner year for castle

(...) Fortunately fantasy time machines can have more than 1 setting, as 1985 is way too early, it's pre 9V and pre airport shuttle. :-) ... but ya, I hear you. Still I do think these sets are an improvement over the last batch of Castle sets and (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle)

The picture is from the new knights kingdom big bionidor type sets, on the back of the instructions. Phil scanned the back of the 8774 - 'Vladek' instructions. (I actually nipped to TrU at lunch to buy the set to get a closer look - sad, huh) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: banner year for castle

James, Thanks for posting this. I'm sure there will be a lot of discussion about this over the next few days. Out of curiosity, what set did this come out of? And was the scan from a new 2004 catalog? New mini flyer? Bryan "James Stacey" (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: banner year for castle

The giant coats of arms are the shields off the big knights sets. So if you have all the big knights you can change the heraldry for the minifig sets. looking at that set too, I guess the things the knights are on may have little motors in them to (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle)

(...) parts, but what could have been their motivation for designing these sets? They're ugly and probably the most unrealistic castle sets ever. I say this because if someone is looking to get into castle, I doubt these sets will attract them to (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: banner year for castle

(...) Nah, that's not the case. Take a look at the bad guy on the other side, he's standing on tiles. This looks like a neat little game, where you attempt to flick the boulder across the bridge and knock the bad guy off his platform. Having the (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: banner year for castle

(...) I must have missed this announcement but wow. I thought you were talking about the bionicle knights, but those are going to kick arse! I would prefer some more traditional colored knights, but I've got them, now we can mix it up with more (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Lord of the Rings Theater Display in Raleigh, NC

Is there any chance of getting some closer shots of the Fell Beast after the display is taken down (or do you have some already?) - I'd enjoy seeing how it was created.   CASTLE ALIVE (Re: banner year for castle)

(...) First of all let me shout: "YO HO", finally after 3 years, new Castle's sets Castle's alive once more I have to agree that this is probably the worst castle ever (even worse then 6098), but as James said, new weapons, alot of new (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle, FTX)

Re: Boycot the New Castle Knight Sets

Hmmm - I think the Bionicle Knight's will be bought a lot from children ! Nearly all boys between 8 and 14 are Bionicle-Fans right now - and they want them ! -> So "boycoting" won't work ! Just let them be and by the new colorfull castlesets 2004 ;) (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: banner year for castle

I suppose there are some nice touches in there, I was just (wrongly) holding out for models rather than playsets. The comic that comes with the figures shows the castle also with red trim rather than blue, so whether the set will come with the (...) (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: banner year for castle

  Re: banner year for castle

(...) Looking at the sets...I can see a couple of good ideas for MOC's, some good parts, but some terrible colour selections. I like the tower wall sections in 8780 with attatched barred windows. Benjamin Whytcross (21 years ago, 16-Dec-03, to lugnet.castle)
