Re: October 31st - Picture of the Day

Hello! (...) You are welcome :-) (...) Well, he had guardians in influential positions who supported his ideas and protected him from the Inquisition. Luther was "kidnapped" and brought to the Wartburg Castle (Robert Carney has built it recentley. (...) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: October 31st - Picture of the Day

(...) According to Jojo (see previous postings in this thread), you are correct. (...) A quick search online reveals that MLK received a doctorate in systematic theology in 1955 from Boston University. -H. (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: October 31st - Picture of the Day

(...) Ah. That I did not know. Thank you for correcting my oversight! :) I do find it interesting that the story of him nailing things to the door might be a myth or exaggeration. I have often wondered how someone in his day and age could have (...) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: October 31st - Picture of the Day

Hello! (...) Nope. :-) The reformer Martin Luther was an Augustinian monk and also a Doctor of Theology at the University of Wittenberg. This is why he nailed his 95 theses on the church's door there because this door was used as a bill-board for (...) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: October 31st - Picture of the Day

(...) It is possible that the Doctor title comes from the theology degree Martin Luther had, as a monk. He was a scholar, if I am not mistaken? And back then, all Church scholars were referred to as "Doctors of the Church". BTW, MLK was a doctor of (...) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: October 31st - Picture of the Day

Hello! (...) Thanks! (...) It was not intended to be the door of my gothic cathedral(fragment). However, it would well fit into it. Bye Jojo (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: October 31st - Picture of the Day

Hello! (...) Thanks! (...) Unfortunatelly not. I've only built this portal just for this one picture. This door would fit into my cathedral though. If only I had bricks and space enough to build the cathedral... (...) I'm pleased to hear that :-) (...) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: October 31st - Picture of the Day

(...) Just read this thread again. Not trying to nit-pick, but I think you may be mixing up your historical figures. The Martin Luther you rendered in Lego was (I believe) just Martin Luther, not a Doctor. The "Dr." probably seems to precede that (...) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: October 31st - Picture of the Day

Hello! (...) Thanks! (...) Hehe, maybe... There's not much that once could build concerning to Luther. Except the Wartburg Castle, of course... (...) Thanks. I've to confess I was surprised myself when I got this idea. And I like the look, too. :-) (...) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle)

Buenos tardes! (...) Thanks! (...) Well, maybe I tend to lecture sometimes... Bye Jojo (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Formally Announcing: The Medieval Marketplace, A Common Castle Builders Project

(...) What size carts are you using? I asumed most people would be using 4-wide carts, and with two market stalls facing each other the road is 8 studs wide. With two market stalls back to back the alley is 2 studs wide. Just wondering if maybe you (...) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle)

Re: Use of lugnet.castle.org NEW USES

(...) I would tend to agree. I think it would be good to keep the organizational aspects of Market Place (and future such projects like the modular castle town) here. Frank (...) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle.org, lugnet.castle)

  Tha First Medieval Marketplace!

Hi all, I am proud to present the first Medieval Marketplace: The Rare Items Co. It sells all those rare pieces that are so hard to find and so collectible... think of an old fashioned bricklink with only one store... The Folder (after moderation): (...)   Re: Use of lugnet.castle.org NEW USES

Castle.org can now be the home of the Market Place, I would cross post to .announce and .castle anyways, but we can reply to .castle.org It really doesn't have a use otherwise. Since we have it, we mine as well use it. Unless the world disagrees (...) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle.org, lugnet.castle)

After creating a experimental shop on a 16x16 baseplate I came up with a few problems and I know some of them have been said befor. (...) I think that the road should be made with 16x32 tan basplates, set between the shops facing each other. With a (...) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle)

Couldn't have said it better. Thanks Alan, Josh! Jeremy - who doesn't like being the turn-to for all marketplace questions. I am not really the creator, just the ringleader. :-) (22 years ago, 31-Oct-02, to lugnet.castle, lugnet.publish)
