Re: Color Definition for Dull Silver

(...) No it's not. If the render is old and not updated then it will never the ldconfig.ldr file anyhow, so the dithered colors in ledit and ldraw will never change. This is for the future. (...) That's still true, but you should be able to replace (...) (21 years ago, 23-Sep-03, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Rubber Colors Needed (Was: Color Definition for Dull Silver)

(...) I seem to have a few of these white (sort of a chalky gray-white, in my collection) tires from the early 70's, but I have no idea which of my early sets included them. I always figured that the white color was simply a sign of degraded rubber. (...) (21 years ago, 23-Sep-03, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Color Definition for Dull Silver

(...) It's needed for backwards compability. Using an old/not updated renderer shouldn't make the rendering look awkward. But using a newer renderer should make it better. So is the case with grey rubber, black rubber, and electric conductor. When (...) (21 years ago, 23-Sep-03, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.ray)

Rubber Colors Needed (Was: Color Definition for Dull Silver)

(...) I saw that link at Brickshelf, too, and was very surprised. Never heard of that those tyres came in white. Samsonite maybe? I'm tempted to buy a couple just to satisfy my curiousity. Rubber belts have come in many colours, (URL) we need many (...) (21 years ago, 23-Sep-03, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Color Definition for Dull Silver

(...) On that note, let me toss in my $2. I agree with Cary and Steve that dithering should go. Who needs it? The renderer should be able to convert from true color to dithered colors if the display is underpowered. If you must have it for some (...)   Re: Color Definition for Dull Silver

(...) A quick clarification on this. My post above was poorly worded in that it implies that this number definition was already chisled in to stone (thanks for pointing this out Steve). My intention with this pat was to open the idea up to (...) (21 years ago, 23-Sep-03, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.ray)

[Not really a .cad.ray question, but it's a gray area, so I'm leaving the cross-post] (...)   Color Definition for Dull Silver

Based on some discussion off Lugnet, it has been decided that the color number for Dull (Brushed) Silver will be 375 (dithered color 7 and color 7).   Detail on curved surfaces?
