Re: Propellors on plane at Brickshelf

(...) Wow, there exists a version of POV-Ray which supports motion blur? I had no idea! So far, I've always used the POV-Ray animation technique to achieve motion blur. This is somewhat CPU consuming, as I have to render, say, 20 images, and then (...) (24 years ago, 9-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Propellors on plane at Brickshelf

(...) I used MegaPov (an unofficial version of PovRay) that supports motion blur: motion_blur { object {propel scale 2.5 rotate <clock*10,0,0> translate <-70, - 98, -100> } } I made the plane with MLCad and then i added the pilot (including his (...) (24 years ago, 8-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Propellors on plane at Brickshelf

George, How did you create the great propellor effect in this rendering? (URL) stranded minifig is a nice touch. Is the hair from some other LEGO POV library?) --Bram (24 years ago, 8-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Tuk-Tuk. Three wheeled motorized taxicab, at BrickShelf

Fredrik, great job (as usual) on the Tuk-Tuk! (URL) heading is kind of deceiving--the real thing is motorized, but not this mode, right? :) --Bram (24 years ago, 8-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Lego Bedroom pictures uploaded at last!

(...) Yes, plesae explain how you accomplished this! I'm flattered to have my X-wing (although its not the greatest X-wing out there) on those walls! --Bram (24 years ago, 8-Apr-00, to lugnet.general, lugnet.starwars, lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Lego Bedroom pictures uploaded at last!

(...) WOW!!! Not just underwater, but Star Wars too! How did you do it!?! Did you paint those all by hand from ray-traced renderings, or did you print them using a larger-format digital printer and then apply that to the walls and ceiling somehow? (...)   Re: '59 Caddy Hovercar Raytraces

(...) Thanks! (...) I'd love to see other people take a shot at it! (I wonder if all those pieces exist in pink? It looks fine in white, too, which is the RL color of the model) --Bram Bram Lambrecht / o o \ BramL@juno.com (...) (...) a (...) No. (...) OK, I'll email the file to you (or if there's enough interest, I'll offer a 1024x768 for download) (...) White works fine too. If you ahve trouble finding 1x1 bricks w/ five studs in white, don't panic. I used gray. --Bram (...) (24 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: '59 Caddy Hovercar Raytraces

this is quite cool, bram. i particularly like the use of pink elements and the bubble over the cockpit/driver's seat. it opens up a whole new range of possibilities (flying versions of classic cars). good stuff! ..joseph g (...)   Re: '59 Caddy Hovercar Raytraces

I didn't know that about POV-ray. The only things I've rendered in it have been floating in space, so I've never tried something hovering over a reflective surface. Is the POV file available for download somewhere? I need a 1024x768 version for my (...) (24 years ago, 7-Apr-00, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.town, lugnet.cad.ray)

  Re: '59 Caddy Hovercar Raytraces

(...) Thanks. (...) It's an optical illusion--well, actually, it's probably just a limitation of POV-Ray. AFAIK, reflective surfaces in POV don't actually reflect the light rays that bounce off of them, so no light reaches the bottom of the car, so (...)   Re: '59 Caddy Hovercar Raytraces

Very cool! Did you do anything special to the bottom of the car in the ray-trace? In the reflection, it looks almost like you have placed tiles there upside down, but the MPD has plates for the bottom. Or is it an optical illusion? James (...)   Re: Parts That Don't Render Correctly

(...) Nope. These parts are modeled using lines to represent the corrugations. L3P drops the lines, because POV-Ray doesn't *do* lines. So you end up with smooth parts. There are some other LDraw parts which suffer from similar problems. (...) Not (...) (24 years ago, 6-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  Parts That Don't Render Correctly

I have noticed that the shutters for the 1x4x3 town windows and the hinge train gate don't render properly. I use the standard L3P output and render at the highest settings but they always come out smooth. The corrugated brick does fine though. Is (...) (24 years ago, 6-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)
