Re: "Glowing" Lights in POV-RAY (2nd attempt)

(...) This web server is currently having problems. I have reported it to the provider and they are working on it. If you have problems, please check again later. -Chuck (25 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: "Glowing" Lights in POV-RAY (2nd attempt)

Two things, First, I noticed that your ambient value for the glow color was 2.0. This promots to a color vector of <2.0,2.0,2.0> The largest legal color vector is <1.0,1.0,1.0>. I suggest you drop the ambient value to 1.0. Second, I noticed that you (...) (25 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: "Glowing" Lights in POV-RAY (2nd attempt)

(...) A couple of things to try?--(dunno if these will work)-- - Put a point light source inside the 1x1 cylinder brick atop the staff and crank its luminosity up to (10,10,10). Then tweak that gradually downward since it'll probably be too bright. (...) (25 years ago, 23-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

"Glowing" Lights in POV-RAY (2nd attempt)

Howdy, y'all! A while back, I asked y'all for some help in making a "glow" in a rendered image ("(URL) took your suggestions and implemented them as best I could, and I've posted the results here: "(URL) still not quite satisfied with the results.   L3P and Lego Colors

After converting a couple of models with L3P and rendering them with Pov-Ray, i noticed that Color0 (black) actually produces a dark grey color under most lighting conditions. By changing the Color0 definition in Pov-Ray from rgb (...) (25 years ago, 18-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Robot Building Instructions from the O'Reilly book

Hi, I finished computer-rendering all the building instructions from _The Unofficial Guide to LEGO MINDSTORMS Robots_. They're online here: (URL) and Hank have both been updated, so the entire set is RIS 1.0 and RIS 1.5 compliant. I used MLCAD, l3p, (...) (...) No problem :) I'm sure a lot of people will/have benefitted from your work. (...) Right now, I'm working as a Web designer... Sort of ID. I graduate in December, though.   Re: Website

(...) Augh, I knew you were in ID, I should have known you would know all about this stuff. Maybe someone else will benefit from the knowledge. (...)   Re: Website

(...) One might beg to differ. Your stuff looks much better than the majority of ours. In my perfect world, I could send you my MPDs and you'll return awesome renderings. :-, <SOUNDTRACK MODE="WEEPY-KITSCHY" INSTRUMENT="VIOLINS"> Alas, here in the (...)   Re: Website

(...) As always, amazing models! A little bit of constructive criticism on raytracing (not that I'm an expert...[1]) Take, for example, this image: (URL) model is great, but I'd love to be able to see the detail better.   Color problems in L3P

I downloaded this really cool loader model: (URL) MLcad, the claws are black. After making the POV file with L3P, the claws render yellow in POV and some of the decals go away.   Re: User POV substitutions in L3P

(...) I have had a change of heart. For those desparate to see whats going on, I have provided a sample kit. please note that the commands might change if Lars integrates it with L3P. I have provided source code, executable, two before and after (...) (25 years ago, 9-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: User POV substitutions in L3P

Re: User POV substitutions in L3P

(...) Hm, he uses a special "rugged" texture on the slopes, to give them the correct look. (This can be done in L3P too, with some manual adjustments to the POV file.) Also, he seems to have two definitions for each part, one transparent and one (...) (25 years ago, 9-Mar-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)
