Quozl:

First of all: I'm a complete newbie to LDraw.

We all started there at some point.

The situation: I've downloaded complete.exe and run it, saved the parts
list from ldraw.org in C:\LDRAW\, and when I open up a LDRAW model in
LDlite, none of the bricks have studs.  When I open up MLCAD, it says
it can't find stud.dat.  I do have stud2.dat and others in the P folder
but no stud.dat.  Is complete.exe complete or am I missing some parts?

There should be a "stud.dat" in "complete.exe". Try to run
"complete.exe -y" again. If this doesn't fix the problem you
should download "ldraw.exe" and then first run "ldraw.exe -y"
and after that run "complete.exe -y".

Play well,

Jacob
