I like LDraw DesignPad. However, I do a lot of work in TextWrangler on my Mac, so I thought it would be neat if it had more features for working with LDraw files. Towards that end, I’ve starting putting together an assemblage of scripts called the “TextWrangler LDraw Kit.” All it really does at the moment is locate and open selected parts, but it’s a start.

For more information and to download the files, please visit anoved.net/tw_ldraw_kit.html. Additional notes may be found as comments within the scripts themselves.

I recorded a movie to better illustrate what it does: anoved.net/twldkitdemo.html (contains a 1280x800 1.7MB Flash animation).

The ldlocate script may be interesting in its own right. Given some text containing LDraw part references and some candidate directories, it reports the paths to the actual part files. Like the rest of the kit, it could stand to be improved.

Just thought I’d share in case there’s anyone out there who would find it useful. I’m not really “supporting” it, but if you have any trouble getting it installed or making it work, please do let me know.

Be well,

Jim
