Nothing much seems to be happening with the LCD spec,
but I read it through and have a comment, in case anyone
is listening. If not, at least this lands in the archives.

The "stud inlet" and the "turnable stud inlet" should not
be distinguished in their own merit. In fact, because every stud
inlet accepts any cylindrical stud, a stud-to-inlet connection
can always be rotated freely around the stud. The physical reason
for why some stud-to-inlet connections can be turned and some
can not is that most connections involve several studs connecting
to several stud inlets. Connections involving more than one stud
pose a constraint that removes one degree of freedom.
Collisions are secondary constraints that need to be handled
if we are striving for full realism.

Many creations I have seen and built make use of rotating
single-stud connections for articulated joints and odd
angle mounts, so allowing an inherently non-rotating stud
inlet is a flaw that should be avoided if possible.

(...) Hi I am currently working on my own version of LCD. (URL) was thinking of adding some kind over-ride to the angle of movement for each connection. This clinches it, I will. The format itself could hold single-studs that lock at 90 degrees or (...) (21 years ago, 22-May-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.lcd)
