I'm guessing you mean moving out the near clip plane. This can indeed help a
whole lot. I actually set the near and far clip planes based on the bounding
sphere. However, if you get closer than a certain distance, or inside the
bounding sphere, obviously the near plane has to have a minimum which gets used
instead.
