With help from Thomas Woelk, I uncovered a design problem in the TrackDraw file
format. It currently assumes that numbers are localized; that is, it expects an
angle to be expressed as
angle="22.5"
if the part description is in American English, but "22,5" (comma instead of
period) if the part description is in German.
Is this intuitive to Germans? I assume the answer is 'yes', but after typing '.'
in LDraw numbers, does it feel right to type ',' in TrackDraw numbers?
I can think of three options for TrackDraw:
- use '.' (period) everywhere for a decimal point, ala LDraw
- use the correct number format depending on the files' language and culture
- allow the files' number format to be set separately from the language
Opinions?
Thanks
Cary
