I was looking at the new parts for LDraw and was pleased to see that the
'879 Touch Sensor' was not called 'MindStorms Touch Sensor' as it might
have been, since the '8482 CyberMaster' also includes tree of these.
For those who don't know, the CyberMaster is a MindStorms-like LEGO set
that is (was?) only available in Europe.

As I understand there must be a high degree of quality in a part for it
be distributed. The Touch Sensor is no exception and it's a very nice
part indeed, but since it's the same part of the CyberMaster I see some
things that are not so well.

1. The Touch Sensor is the part number '32025'. Why it was numbered
'879'?
  Well, at least in CyberMaster...

The part number on the bottom only applies to the bottom section of the
part, not the entire part, so a 3-digit number had to be used.

IMHO this numbering method makes no sense at all !!
First, the 3 parts are not separable and makes no sense using them
separated.
LEGO decided to number them like if it was a _single_ part and have put
the 32025 number in the _main_ part which is the top halve. I completely
agree with this method.
Second, 32025 is the number one can read in the sensor. Why didn't you
called it by the it's name? I mean, someone looking for that part number
will never find it.

2. Besides no one has called it 'MindStorms Touch Sensor', it's clear to
me that _is_ a MindStorms Touch Sensor, since it uses the MindStorms
colors: gray body and yellow button. The 'Complete Assembly Shortcut'
only confirms this.
The tree CyberMaster Touch Sensors have a transparent cyan body, with
yellow, white and red buttons. All three are different. I propose a
'Complete Assembly Shortcut' for these tree CyberMaster sensors also.

The way to do this would be to color the body transparent cyan, and use
color 16 for the button.  Then one shortcut would work for all three
versions.

That's the one I'm sending you.
I've separated the 877 into two parts since it made sense that way.
Besides, the bottom halve was not rendered using the 16 and 24 colors,
but 8 and 0. I changed that.
Also notice I've changed the part name to 32025 and the subparts to
32025P01, 32025P02 and 32025P03 :-)

3. Besides the good quality of the Touch Sensor, something that was
forgotten was that the CyberMaster Touch Sensors are _transparent_, and
that we can actually see the circuitry inside! When re render the '879
Touch Sensor' with the transparent cyan body it clearly looks empty and
unreal, specially in POV-Ray.
I don't expect someone to LDraw a circuit, but something must be drawn
inside in a silver color to make it look a bit more real.

Since I can't see inside my touch sensor, I won't be ldrawing the insides,
but someone with the transparent version is welcome to do this.

I've tried but I failed. :-(
I never read anything on how to LDraw stuff from primitives, so it was
more or less by chance.
I tried to paint the front 2x2 _interior_ of the 3x2 brick with silver
(color 383) but only one of the areas turned out gray in the rendering.
I have no idea why.

Thanks. Great work guys!! :-)

Your welcome.  The IL Legislature goes on spring break for the next two
weeks, so I hope to complete the light sensor as well.  (And some other
things I've had to leave hanging--sorry Terry.)
