I think in the first instance you should attempt to contact the author of
the original (flawed) part, or if not known raise it for discussion here.
Regardless of the re-use issue, we should be attempting to fix serious flaws.
In general we should avoid re-using code in patterned parts, but rather
create a subfile containing all the common non-patterned regions of the
part. This has maintenance implications if there are already several
patterned versions in the official releases.
To which part do you refer?
